America Ferrera is an American actress best known for her portrayal of Betty Suarez as the lead role in Ugly Betty. Her portrayal of Betty has earned her a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and an Emmy Award. Ferrera's other acting roles also include films such as Real Women Have Curves, The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants (and its sequel) and The Dry Land. She also voiced a part in animated picture How To Train Your Dragon. Ferrera married her long-term partner Ryan Piers Williams in June 2011.

In the upcoming episode "Because the Night," Damon (Ian Somerhalder) takes Elena (Nina Dobrev) on an adventure to New York City in an effort to get her mind off of recent events (RIP, Jeremy!). Judging from our exclusive first look from the episode, it appears that Elena has gotten a new look on her trip by adding some red streaks and stylish new waves to her tresses.
Just as The Vampire Diaries' Elena (Nina Dobrev) was getting used to the idea of being a vampire, she learned there could be a cure. But with that quest leading to the death of her brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) forcing Elena to shut off her emotions so she could deal, Elena has now become a force to be reckoned with.
"The second half [of the season] is about Elena now being a vampire with all the true definitions of the word: She's driven by a desire to feed and she doesn't care who she hurts along the way," executive producer Julie Plec tells TVGuide.com. "She's certainly not going to be pleased about who's trying to stop her from being the way she wants to be. So now it's like what trouble does she get herself into, what does everyone else try to do to help her or to stop her or to defeat her or to give up on her."
