Demetria Devonne Lovato was born on August 20, 1992, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to former Dallas Cowboy cheerleader Dianna Hart. Demi Lovato began showing off her talent at an early age, performing in talent shows and the Dallas Cowboys' Thanksgiving Day Halftime Show with LeAnn Rimes. When Demi turned 10, she landed her first reoccurring role in the children's television show Barney & Friends (1992).
Ensuing her stint on Barney & Friends, Demi made guest appearances on Just Jordan (2007) and Prison Break (2005). Demi took the next step in establishing her career when she began working for the Disney Channel, appearing in the short-lived television show, As the Bell Rings (2007), followed by a starring role in Disney Channel's made for TV movie, Camp Rock (2008), all of which resulted in her new found stardom.
After recording three songs for Camp Rock's soundtrack with The Jonas Brothers, Demi released her debut album, Don't Forget, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. To promote her album, Demi performed as the opening act for The Jonas Brother's 2008 Burning Up Tour.
In 2009, Demi's career took off when she landed her own Disney show, Sonny with a Chance (2009), and released her second album, Here We Go Again. Her stardom was later put on hold in 2009, when she checked into rehab while on the Camp Rock Tour to find treatment for severe depression, cutting, bulimia and anorexia. While there, Demi was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. When Demi was released from treatment in January 2011, she left Sonny with a Chance (2009) to focus on her third album, Unbroken (2011).
In 2012, Demi became a panel judge for the hit competition show, X Factor, alongside Britney Spears, L.A. Reid and the show's creator, Simon Cowell.
